At Wavestone US, 76 percent of employees say their workplace is great.

A leading global consultancy built by 2,600 consultants in only 6 months

Wavestone is a global management consultancy, forged from the combination of 2 leading consultancies(1), which formally merged in January 2016. Its 2,600 consultants operate seamlessly across 4 continents, helping clients across all sectors and regions with business growth strategies as well as operational and transformational initiatives. Wavestone's dedicated commitment to its clients, deep functional and sector-specific knowledge, and world-class consulting skills are the reasons the company is chosen to perform over and over again.

Three guiding principles have led to Wavestone's birth: fully design a new company from scratch, quickly and with the support of all the employees. Several workshops have been organized in all the offices (New York, London, Hong Kong, Paris, etc.) to deliver in only 6 months the positioning, the ambition and the values of the new company. It also helped search its new name. “We decided to make all the employees part of the change, and involved all the teams worldwide to build Wavestone” said Pascal Imbert, CEO (ranked 3rd in the Glassdoor 2017 Employee's Choice Awards for Highest Rated CEOs(2), after Microsoft's and SAP's). The new brand and operating model were launched in July 2017 during a Corporate Event in Paris, where all employees from all Wavestone's offices were present.

From a HR point of view, the ambition of the firm is to become a top employer in each country it operates. That is the reason why the company wants to be systematically certified Great Place to Work® in the coming years.

Wavestone US: a hub which offers a large scope of capabilities

Wavestone US is based in New York City, with 50+ consultants from 12 nationalities focusing on providing independent, fact-based advice and guidance to the world's leading retail and investment banks, asset managers, insurance companies and consumer finance firms. The global team brings deep industry knowledge and experience, strategic insight and operational expertise, and a passion for delivering measurable bottom-line results. The office also operates as a major hub delivering several capabilities for the group, from US regulatory insight to banks' advisory to technology strategy and cybersecurity.

20 positions offered in 2017-2018

Not less than 20 positions are offered at Wavestone US in 2017-2018, from Business Analysts to Senior Managers. At undergraduate or MBA level, the company recruits students from Cornell, New York University and Columbia but also from Princeton, Rutgers or Boston College.

At a more senior experience level (i.e. senior consultant, manager and senior manager positions), Wavestone is looking for talents who earned their stripes within Big 4 consultancies or major financial services firms.

A collective approach at the heart of Wavestone US HR policy

As a small and close-knit team, information is shared from the management all the way to entry-level employees using open door policy, team meetings and focus groups where smaller groups of ~10 employees have open discussions on firm-related topics, from strategy to operational issues. These focus groups are designed to ensure every employee's voice can be heard.

In addition to dedicated work-life balance programs (flexible schedule, new office with design inspired by “air” concepts – i.e. simple, clean, comfortable and open seating model, access to, etc.), “intrapreneurship” is encouraged within the company, through the production of thought leadership on subjects that interest consultants. Exploring new topics places Wavestone employees at the crest of the innovation frontier, and allows the team to feel like true pioneers. This produced content is often made in collaboration with other offices across the globe, allowing for additional partnerships, experiences, and even career opportunities to flourish.

A committed company through lots of internal projects and social activities

Employees can launch and manage internal projects as well, like Women of Wavestone (WoW). The group is self-organized with a charter to increase the female footprint within the company. Since early 2017, Wavestone US has increased its gender ratio from 15% to 21% females and intends to keep up the trend.

Social activities are also offered to Wavestone consultants such as Happy Hours, the annual Summer Party or team-building trips, in addition to the annual solidarity day called “Powerday”, where employees are encouraged to volunteer their support to associations and foundations carrying out civil-society and environmental actions. Volunteers can participate in skills-sponsorship or in-the-field activities.

Each and every employee is very committed to the success of Wavestone and of our clients. Through internal activities and our involvement with the community, we were successful in instantiating the core values of the firm; I am glad we created a team of happy and entrepreneurial employees which enables the rapid expansion of Wavestone in the US” concludes Julien Bonnay, Managing Partner and Head of Wavestone in the USA.
