Biography of Dr. Stephan Blankenburg

Dr. Stephan Blankenburg is a Partner at Wavestone in Germany and leads the TIME (Transport, Infrastructure, Mobility & Manufacturing, Energy) Business Unit. As an experienced and creative leader, he focuses on guiding complex transformation programs at one of the most critical intersections of our time: where advanced software meets physical hardware and critical infrastructure (Connecting Technology with the Physical World).

Against the backdrop of increasing system complexity, cybersecurity challenges, disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Deep Tech, and Quantum Technologies, as well as growing regulatory requirements including NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act, he supports leading companies and DAX-listed corporations in building resilient and adaptive organizations. His work addresses key future-oriented topics such as Product Security, OT Security, energy transformation, digital platforms, and the strategic use of AI to improve efficiency and evolve business models.

Dr. Blankenburg earned his PhD in Physics from Paderborn University and the renowned École Polytechnique in Paris. He also conducted research as a Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He holds patents in the field of nanotechnology and has built a distinguished career as a Business Leader, Key Account Manager, and Board Member in leading innovation and management consulting firms, including TWT GmbH and Q_PERIOR. Today, he combines deep scientific expertise with strong entrepreneurial thinking, analytical rigor, and extensive change management capabilities.
