Background

Faced with the growing number of orders, invoices, and suppliers, as well as strong internal pressure in terms of compliance and productivity, the purchasing department of a large services group wanted to control its upstream P2P processes, in order to have confidence in spending commitments and better control of non-production purchases across all of its entities, worldwide.

Challenges

Working closely with the purchasing department, Wavestone had three major challenges to meet:

  • Propose options for optimization to manage and control costs
  • Clarify role responsibilities and refocus the department’s employees.
  • Improve customer satisfaction by helping the department choose the right set of tools

Responses and key success factors

From conception to implementation, Wavestone is involved in all the project work on the new tools; it uses a co-construction approach working with the entirety of the stakeholders:

  • Definition of target processes and the putting in place of reference purchasing/supplier benchmarks
  • Assistance in choosing an e-procurement solution
  • Adaptation of governance arrangements and design of a new organizational structure
