Background

Carmakers are all too aware that growth in the car industry will be transformation-driven. Representing more than just a means of transport, cars will increasingly be expected to offer a range of mobility services.

To respond to these changing patterns of consumer behavior, the PSA Group counted on Wavestone to assist in developing its vision for the connected car, including the design and development of a platform capable of hosting these new services. The challenge is complex: PSA needs a platform that delivers a comprehensive and coherent set of services that is completely secure and open-ended in order to facilitate the development of other connected services in the future.

Challenges

Wavestone provided its industry-specific and technological expertise to the PSA Group to help it meet three major challenges:

  • Revamp the platform’s architecture and its associated systems to deliver a model of connected services in a global context;
  • Address the rapidly changing and relatively unstandardized IoT market to offer a coherent, open, and future-proof technological platform capable of evolving throughout the vehicle’s product life cycle;
  • Help to define the features of a platform as a service based on the most recent technologies, but compatible with a large number of vehicles worldwide (more than 20 million over 10 years).

Answers and key factors for success

  • Increase the reliability of existing services.
